Andy Gray's 14th goal of the season gave Bradford City a richly deserved victory at Turf Moor to send their travelling support back over The Pennines in a joyous mood.
As for Burnley, these are indeed sad times for a side who reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup but have now gone seven games without a win.
Gray struck two minutes from time to give the Yorkshire side the points adding to a goal from Claus Jorgensen who buried a close-range header past Burnley keeper Marlon Beresford on 18 minutes.
To make matters worse for Burnley, defender Arthur Gnohere, on as a substitute for the injured Driss Diallo was sent off for a second yellow card offence just prior to Bradford's second crucial goal.
City were comfortable from the moment Jorgensen rose high to head home a cross from full back Gus Uhlenbeek although Burnley did have a 'goal' from Ian Moore disallowed for offside.
It was a disappointing night in particular for Burnley's former Bradford striker Robbie Blake who came on as a half-time substitute but was unable to change the outcome.
Burnley defender Steve Davis might have snatched an equaliser when he headed over from close range but when Gray burst clear to beat the offside trap and waltz round Beresford it was game, set and match for the Bantams.
