Bradford City finally ended their home hoodoo with a hard fought 2-0 victory over near neighbours Huddersfield Town.
City had not won at home since October, their worst run at Valley Parade in 40 years, but goals either side of half-time finally meant home supporters could cheer three points.
Although it was City who had the best of the early exchanges, it was Town's prolific marksman Pawel Abbott who had the first half's best chance.
Paul Henderson's weak goal kick went straight at Delroy Facey who put Abbott through on goal, but the Polish Under-21 striker scuffed his shot into to the arms of a relieved Henderson.
Just a minute later it was City's turn to be wasteful in front of goal. After exchanging passes with Dean Windass, winger Nicky Summerbee's low cross found Andy Cooke, but the striker blazed over from just six yards out.
Windass was the next to come close to opening the scoring when his looping header came off the top of the crossbar and bounced over.
Bradford were deservedly in front a minute before half time. Lee Crooks swung a ball out wide to Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, who skipped past Town full-back Andy Holdsworth and fired in a low centre which Cooke latched on to and made no mistake from close range.
Ten minutes after the break it was 2-0. Cooke was again involved flicking the ball on to strike partner Windass, whose fierce effort came off the legs of visiting keeper Paul Rachubka before trickling over the goal line off the post.
Although Town huffed and puffed they never looked like getting back into the game and they are still without a win away in 2005.
City, meanwhile, will be hoping they can use this rare home win to force their way back into the play-off spot.
