The defender and the club have decided to end his contract at Valley Parade.
The 24-year-old struggled to break into the first team under boss Colin Todd, making only one league start this season.
Gavin was reportedly offered the chance to join Macclesfield Town four months ago but the Football League ruled against the loan move.
Reports say he may now head for the Irish republic.
