The 40-year-old, who enjoyed two spells with the Bantams before joining Sheffield United in 2002 and becoming their player-coach, may only be used sparingly during the new campaign.
But that won't upset McCall in the slightest. In fact, it would suit him right down to the ground.
McCall told United's official website:``The boots are almost hung up but I've not officially retired. Hopefully, I won't be required but I'll keep myself fit if needed.''
He added:``I'm still on the playing staff, but I want to concentrate more on the coaching.''
Meanwhile, Peter Folkes is the latest player to leave Valley Parade. He has joined Lincoln City after accepting a 12-month contract at Sincil Bank.
