David Syers hopes to be handed a permanent deal at Bradford by the end of the week. The 22-year-old midfielder, on trial throughout the summer, is on non-contract terms, but boosted his chances by scoring the Bantams` first goal in the midweek Carling Cup win over Nottingham Forest. City manager Peter Taylor told the club's official website: "We said we'd make a decision by the end of the week, but he hasn't done himself any harm. "He's full of energy, he gets about, he makes those forward runs and he got a really important goal for us. "At the end of last week I said I wanted to look at him for one more week and he hasn't done anything wrong to be fair."
