Oliver was expected to be out for at least three weeks when he strained his hamstring in the recent home draw with Northampton to leave manager Peter Jackson with only one recognised central defender for last week's home defeat to Shrewsbury.
Jackson, without injured pair Simon Ramsden (thigh) and Shane Duff (calf), said: "When he first did the injury it looked like he would be out for around three weeks.
"But he's made some good progress and might have an outside chance for Saturday. He's returned to some sort of training now and will look to step that up this week."
