Jacobs delighted with victory

Assistant manager Wayne Jacobs was unable to hide his delight after Steve Williams' late goal gave Bradford a 1-0 victory over Gillingham. The game had moved into the second minute of added time when left-back Luke O'Brien's free-kick was cleared into the path of Tommy Doherty on the right-hand touchline and when the midfield player returned it into the goalmouth, Williams outjumped Gillingham keeper Lance Cronin to head the ball into the net. The victory ended the Bantams' four-match winless run and Jacobs was pleased to record a long overdue three points. "We are delighted to win the game and get three points," said Jacobs. "When you have been on the run that we have been on you take any win and well done to Steve Williams for showing determination to jump above the keeper and head the ball in to the net. "Gillingham will be disappointed to concede a late goal but are delighted. Apart from the win, the positive to come out of the game is a clean sheet and I thought our captain Shane Duff was my man of the match. He handled a difficult opponent in Adebayo Akinfenwa very well. "Steve Williams has been out of the team recently and it is not easy to come back in, but he has helped to keep the clean sheet and he has shown he can nick a goal at set plays. He is always a threat in the opposition box."
