Lewis Hunt opened the scoring, but the game looked like ending all square going into injury time following Marcus Marshall's equaliser for Rotherham. However, Tom Adeyemi handed the Bantams a stoppage-time winner with a controversial effort.
"I couldn't see our winning goal from the dugout. It doesn't matter - it just says Bradford City 2 Rotherham United 1," said Jackson.
"The players have given it a go. We came under a bit of pressure but you are bound to come under pressure when you are playing the fourth side in the table.
"I think it was one of the most exciting games at Valley Parade this season and the winning goal capped a fantastic night for us and also for me personally.
"The work rate and the determination was there for all to see and I`m proud of the players. It takes the pressure off you when you get your first win and Rotherham was a big scalp."
