Torquay, who have now lost only two of their last 16 league matches, established a 1-0 half-time lead when left-back Kevin Nicholson put them in front in the 31st minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Eunan O'Kane played a short free-kick into his path and Nicholson struck the ball through the Bradford defensive wall, giving goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin no chance.
The visitors added a second goal in the 59th minute with a slick move that ended with Jake Robinson crossing from the left and Gavin Tomlin tapping the ball into the net from close range.
Substitute Billy Kee then put the seal on Torquay's win with 10 minutes left, turning the ball into the net from the edge of the six-yard area from O'Kane's cross.
The best Bradford could offer was a superb 20-yard shot from midfielder David Syers in the 68th minute which Scott Bevan brilliantly turned over the crossbar.
