"Of course I want to stay. You just have to see what type of club Bradford is to want to stay here," Flynn told BBC Radio Leeds.
"I really enjoyed it here last season despite our disappointing campaign. I would love to stay and help this club get promoted."
The former Huddersfield Town midfielder will meet with manager Peter Taylor over the weekend in an attempt to iron out a few sticking points in the contact talks
"We are not too far apart from a deal being done, there is just a few things I need to speak to the gaffer about," he said.
"I spoke to him just before I went away about it and will now drive up and meet him again this weekend and hopefully get it sorted.
"I said to the gaffer after the last game of the season could you imagine what this club and atmosphere would be like if we got promoted.
"Getting Bradford out of League Two and back were they belong would be one of my big achievements.
"I think Peter Taylor can get us out of this league. You just have to look at his track record to see that.
"I've really enjoyed playing under him during his short time here. He's added a lot to the team and we get on really well."
Taylor was the key driving force behind Bradford gaining new training facilities at Leeds University and the resurfacing of the Valley Parade pitch.
Flynn believes both will make a big difference to City next season.
"The new training ground will be a huge benefit for us. For example, some times you couldn't go down Apperley Bridge [City's former training ground] because it was so wet and uneven, so you couldn't do passing drills," he said.
"You then have a situation where the manager has to change his training plans to suit the venue and that's not on really.
"It will be a big plus for the young players too as they will now be able to play on a decent surface so be able to improve their touch and things like that.
"So it will be a big improvement and help for the whole club, not just the first-team."
