Bradford are hoping that defenders Rob Kiernan and Luke Oliver (both hamstring) will be available.
Midfielder Tom Adeyemi (ankle) should be fit, but central defenders Shane Duff (Achilles) and Steve Williams (groin) are not yet ready to return.
Crewe Alexandra midfielder Lee Bell told BBC Radio Stoke: "We have enjoyed better times than Bradford have over the last few years but they are one of the biggest clubs in our division so they will be a dangerous team.
"We have no divine right to beat Bradford just because we are higher than in the table, it'll be a tough game.
"We are now going into a really busy period of games and we need to be going on a good run if we want to cement a place in the play-offs."
Bradford City manager Peter Taylor told BBC Radio Leeds: "I'm sure it's going to be quite an open game because they're scoring lots of goals - I know they're conceding a few as well - but Dario [Gradi] has always been a really good football man.
"He always wants his players to play the right way and it's a surprise when every now and again they go and play a long ball.
"It's going to be a big test so we've got to make sure that we're ready, but I also think that if we can play better than we did last Saturday, and I know we can, then we're capable of going anywhere to win a match."
