Bradford are to use special lighting equipment to aid the growth of the Valley Parade pitch. High-power bulbs, similar to those used by Premier league clubs, have been brought in by the Bantams to be used on areas of the playing surface in shade or of heavy wear. Commercial director Roger Owen told the club's official website: "Having spent a lot of money during the summer and now playing reserve games at Eccleshill, groundsman Mick Doyle has a good platform to work from. "We decided to bring in the lighting whilst we are still in the growing season and use what will regularly be a two-week gap between games to keep the playing surface up to scratch. "The bulbs replicate the sun very well and the effect over the first few days was marked. Come the end of the season we hope the playing surface will be back to the award winning condition of a few years ago."
